In English
Although the whole ceremony is loosely referred to as 'roora,' the term 'rusambo' properly refers to the entire process, not a single stage within it. Paying rusambo is called 'kubvisa pfuma' (parting with wealth), and the amount must be proportionate to the family's means. This stage can only be reached once the earlier stages have been completed. Rusambo may be paid in instalments; for example, if the total required comes to $1,400 but the groom only has $2,000 set aside overall for the process, he may pay $600 and settle the remainder over the following years. If the groom cannot make any payment at all, the whole process is halted and must begin again at a later date.
