In English

Roora, also known as Rusambo, is the traditional process a man follows when he wishes to marry a Shona woman. In the past it was paid mainly in cattle, hoes, and cloth, though today most payments are made in cash. Roora is made up of a sequence of stages, from the initial approach to the family through to the final payment, each with its own customs and expectations. Families may vary in how strictly they follow these stages depending on their particular clan's traditions, though the overall structure tends to be broadly similar.
