In English

Kuganha is a marriage route in which a girl or woman herself chooses the man she wants to marry her, unlike the usual custom where the man is the one who first seeks out a wife. This route was often used by a woman who was getting older and did not want to remain unmarried, and she could join a family that was already polygamous. Most men would not refuse this offer, and after accepting the woman they would begin paying roora to her family just as in any other route. Kuganha was accepted within families that practised polygamous marriage.
