In English
Once rusambo has been paid and the bride's family is satisfied, the groom and his party are invited to be formally welcomed into the household, a custom called 'kupinzwa mumusha.' The groom greets his new in-laws with the special traditional clap-greeting known as 'gusvi,' signalling that he is now part of the family rather than a stranger. At this point, he is given a list of clothing required for both the mother and father, expected to be a complete outfit from head to toe. Giving these clothing gifts is the final mark that the groom has been fully accepted into the family.
