Moyo Muturikwa is a Shona clan of the Moyo totem, the heart. Men of the clan are greeted as Muturikwa, Nhumba and Chirandu, and the detembo adds Reve and Gutsa; women are greeted as MaMoyo or Vapamoyo. The poem praises the clan as skilled at ordering affairs, with the counsel of the bull.

The Muturikwa detembo is short and close. It greets the clan as Nhumba, as 'Chirandu changu chichi', this Chirandu of mine, and as 'MuGutsa wangu yuyu', this Gutsa of mine. It names the clan those of Reve and those of the white stones (vamabwe machena), and greets it at Nhandare and Shavanhohwe.
Its closing praise is for good judgement: Moyo, 'mugona kuronga nhau', skilled at ordering affairs, with 'zano renzombe', the counsel of the bull. It ends on the clan's own name, Muturikwa.
Those who carry a totem do not eat its animal. Some families keep away from one part of it only, such as the heart, and the old belief holds that a person who breaks the rule loses their teeth.
The praise names are for every day, not only for ceremonies: a person is greeted by them, thanked with them, and a wife praises her husband with his.

Traditionally, people of the same mutupo and chidawo do not marry: they are counted as one family. Between different Moyo clans some families allow it, often after a ceremony that cuts the kinship (kucheka ukama).
