In English

Once a person has died, the body is laid out while still warm, the eyes and mouth are closed, the body is either stretched out or has its legs bent, and the head is tilted to the right. News of the death is then spread to relatives and to the district head, and the grave is dug on the day of burial, with the deceased's own blood relatives being the ones to formally task their kin with digging it. The body is washed by women, daughters-in-law, in-laws, grandparents, or grandchildren, then anointed with oil and dressed before being buried in the morning or as the sun sets. Young children were traditionally not permitted to watch a burial, and children who did not yet have homes of their own could in some places also be barred from attending their own parents' burial. Infants were buried differently from adults, often in open ground near rivers, while adults were buried in the recognized burial grounds of the homestead or community, and kings were buried in caves and mountains.
