In English

A deceased person's belongings are shared out by the heir on the day of the reburial ceremony, with cattle typically left to support the children.

Once the guva ceremony has been performed, the appointed heir distributes the deceased's belongings according to what the deceased's parents had instructed. If a man has died, his wives are the first allowed to choose from among his belongings. Cattle belonging to the father are usually left to the children to support their own future marriages, while items associated with manhood, such as a bow and arrows, are typically given to the male relative taking over the deceased's role. A deceased woman's belongings are usually left to her own children or to her natal family. After the belongings have been distributed, a separate ceremony follows in which names are formally passed on: the heir is addressed by the deceased's name and handed the tools they will now use as the new bearer of that name, celebrated with ululation to mark that the deceased has, in a sense, "risen again" in the new heir.
