In English
A verb expresses an action, e.g. 'kuba' ('to steal') or 'kumhanya' ('to run'). Every Shona verb is built from three core parts: pre-stem prefixes (attached to the left of the stem, e.g. 'va-cha-b-a', 'they will steal'), the stem or root (the unchanging core carrying the verb's basic meaning), and post-stem elements (added after the stem, including extensions and the final vowel).
